Skäftekärr Fossil & Stone Museum

See genuine Öland and foreign animal fossils, crystals and odd objects from some 25 countries as well as parts of three famous meteorites. An inspiring overview of Öland's and life's exciting development from "primeval to ice age".

The museum is based on private collections over 40 years, as well as models and texts in understandable Swedish and English for a family interested in popular science.
Learn more about Öland's more than 500 million year old history of "Stone flounder, Öland nails and crystal apples" as a puzzled Linnaeus called these "petrifications" (fossils) on his Öland trip in 1741.

Summer open. For opening hours visit the website or contact Gösta Toreld.
