Mill row in Störlinge
The most common type of mill on Öland is the so-called stump mill with a rotatable mill housing. Also called a pole mill. These can be seen in Störlinge, among other places.
The seven mills in Störlinge stand in a long row on the country castle just east of the road and are Öland's longest preserved mill row. The mill type is the typical Öland stump mill, which remains in just over a couple of hundred copies on the island. South of the village there are two more mills on the country castle, also the typical stump mills. Many windmills have been renovated through local history associations. Störlinge village is one of the few villages, where still most farms have their mill left.
