But what exactly is Öland's harvest festival?
Well, we'll tell you! The autumn season is unequivocally crowned by Öland's Harvest Festival, which is one of the country's largest and most well-attended of its kind. On the last weekend of September, this extensive event will be held from north to south. The islanders create the best of everything they have to create a festive atmosphere and gather to celebrate the local community and harvest work.
A large number of cultural experiences are mixed with flea markets, farm shops and food markets, pumpkins, potatoes, beans and onions, yes everything that the Öland pantry has to offer. The Art Night attracts a large number of visitors who travel around our island and take part in the creations of the local artists and craftsmen as darkness descends over the island and only torches show the way. Nor should we forget the spectacular fire shows and pumpkin competitions, the exciting corn maze that never ends and the guided tours that teach us more about the island – yes, there really is room for everything.
Take the chance to experience Öland's culture and tradition, taste locally grown ingredients and products and enjoy Öland's unique nature and landscape. Surely we will see you on the island during the last week of September?
