Öland is usually at its best when autumn takes over while summer lingers. The last weekend in September is the biggest event of the autumn season, Öland's Harvest Festival, which covers the whole of Öland and attracts thousands of visitors every year. A large number of cultural experiences are mixed with flea markets, farm shops and food markets. Buy pumpkins, potatoes, beans and onions - everything that the Öland pantry has to offer.

During the harvest festival, a wide range of events and experiences are offered to suit the whole family – from markets and dining experiences to art, culture and children's activities. Here we recommend some of them from southern, central and northern Öland!

Southern Öland:
Flavors, art, and historical excursions

Southern Öland offers a feast for all the senses! At the Paradise Workshop , the season's harvest is celebrated with beautiful crafts and art, inspired by Öland's nature and culture. Food lovers should not miss the Cheese Festival in Mörbylånga, where you can taste some of the best cheeses the region has to offer. Eriksöre village street opens up during the harvest festival, here you will find painters, ceramicists, photographers and various craftsmen such as wood carvers and blacksmiths.

For those interested in history, Eketorp's castle awaits, a fascinating place where you can travel back in time and experience life in the Middle Ages. Oldergaarden in Triberga has a total of 15 exhibitors who showcase art, crafts and local products. A walk through Bläsinge village street on eastern Öland gives you a charming experience of traditional Öland houses and crafts.

In several places, there are also lush meeting places such as Allégården's garden market, Tjusby garden and Medelhavsgården.

Central Öland:
Culture, history and fiery experiences

In central Öland, a mix of culture and spectacular experiences awaits. Visit Öland's Museum Himmelsberga and take part in Öland's veteran tractor club and experience old tractors in action, or take part in an impressive collection exhibition of arts and crafts. At VIDA museum you can stroll around in beautiful surroundings and see the Åkerbo artists' collection exhibition. The evenings will be magical with fire sculptures and Viking ship burning in Köpingsvik, a spectacle that fascinates both young and old.

In Borgholm , the city offers a wonderful atmosphere with its harvest festival parade, a colourful puppet parade and a spectacular fireworks display that lights up the night sky. Also don't miss the Days of the Sheep at Borgholm Castle, a tribute to the island's sheep husbandry, with everything from sheep shearing to wool crafts. In Stora Rör you can learn about total defence and take part in historical stories and exhibitions.

For the competitive, an exciting harvest festival orienteering through the beautiful landscape awaits. Don't miss Södvik, a village that feels like a trip back in time, with its charming atmosphere and small shops that smell of history.

Källa, the small village that, despite its size, is full of events, offers a range of activities. There is something for the whole family here! In Löttorp, you can take part in the annual pumpkin competition, where imaginative and impressive pumpkins are exhibited, and celebrate with local music and dance. In Alböke , you can challenge yourself in a magical firewalk with Becker Wellness – an experience out of the ordinary.

On the last weekend of September, this extensive event will be held from north to south. The islanders create the best of everything they have to create a festive atmosphere and gather to celebrate the local community and harvest work.
