Gammalsby lakes

Gammalsby lakelands on eastern Öland are part of a coherent cultural landscape - the Öland lakelands, which are one of Europe's most valuable bird areas for nesting and resting birds. The coast is surrounded by open pastures, also called lakelands. To get to the lakeland, follow the signs Seby läge 1 km / Sjömark east out of road 925. In the area that is easily accessible, there are parking lots, two viewing platforms and a walking path that is accessible all year round.

The lakelands and alvar lands together made up the old outlying lands that were used for grazing. But since the lakelands are much more fertile, they have always had a higher status among farmers.
