Färjestaden
After perhaps a whole day's journey into night, many visitors usually feel that arriving at Färjestaden is a liberation. The journey over the bridge is complete, the children have stopped asking "how far is it left". Now you are only minutes away from turning off the engine and stretching your legs. Färjestaden is an excellent first-stop for your stay on Öland. In the harbor there is a playground, swimming, camping and restaurants and if you want to stay really comfortable, there are two hotels to choose from. A large shopping center with several retail chains gives you all the opportunities for shopping.
With Färjestaden as a starting point, it is easy to make excursions both north and south. A nice bike path leads to baths such as Röhälla in the north and Eriksöre in the south. Near the harbor there is a popular beach, a lovely playground, outdoor gym and adventure golf course. A short distance away there is a multi-activity park with skate ramps. Camping with a nice pool area and a golf course is available in the immediate area. Fancy meeting lemurs, zebras, monkeys and crocodiles? Of course, there is a zoo on Öland, and here you can also swim and play in the water park and get tingles in your stomach in the carousels at the park's amusement park. The magnificent Ferris wheel is one of Öland's most spectacular landmarks.
